A Twisted And Unexpected Ending

Anything can happen when you believe. Well sometimes, having your goal set at the top of a pyramid isn't a good thing afterall. If it ends up not being the result you expected, it'll be so so hurtfull.

April 27th 2011, Main Convent's Choir team participated in the North District Choir Competition 2011 in Sam Tet, with a team consisting of 35 multi-talented girls including our awesome conductress and pianist. We only had around one month to practice. Talk about time management.

Our competition was obviouslly tough with 11 schools participating this year. The schools involved are MGS, Ave Maria, Sam Tet, TCS, ACS and whole lot of newcomers. Being the last one to perform isn't really a good idea though. We had to be in the hall for almost 2 hours listening to our competitors sing. Some were really good and got us so worried and stressed up!

As time pass by, it was our turn to perform. Most of us were shaking and wanted to go to the toilet so badly. But we had to control our nerves and learn how to not show it in public. We started of with Sejahtera Malaysia which was a compulsary song to sing. That didn't go really well for me as I went out of pitch a few times :/

Then, we continued with our second song which was Highlights Of Chicago. That song is supposed to be jazzy. Hahahah! We did enjoy ourselves with that song but we went a bit out of tempo. Maybe it's because we were having an adrenaline rush? :D

At the end of every competition, there's gonna be the part where you'll get all stressed up. That part is called RESULTS. It happened to us too. After seeing so many schools perform, we doubt we're gonna get a placing. In fact, we lost all of our hope we had before the competition.

So it began with the announcer calling school names and giving out participating certificates. We waited and waited for our name to be called. But it wasn't called at all. We were a bit confused by then. And here comes the great part :D They announcer was like 'The third place for the North District Choir Competition goes to the school with number 11 (our number of the day), which is Main Convent, Ipoh!' All of us were stunt and shocked! Shahirah ran and took our prize while the ACS guys in front of us congratulated us. We were all so happy and high after that :D

I bet in the year book this year, it's gonna be written with big bolded letters saying 'Main Convent's Choir team emerged as 3rd place for the North District Choir Competition 2011. They managed to get 3rd place in that competition after a few years struggling for it to happen again.' That'll be super awesome! :D
